What is INTECO-CERT?

Nowadays, Information Technologies have become really useful tools that are present in our daily life. Very often, their involvement in our tasks is so important, that they are indispensable to the proper course of these tasks. Therefore, any security incident, causing Information Systems to work improperly, can lead to great damages.

Together with the development and common use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), many security considerations, attacks and possible vulnerabilities associated to ICT have been arising. The increasing awareness of the significance of these security matters in ICT has led to the creation of organizations and specific measures to address this type of security incidents.

With this main idea, CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team) arises. These are response teams to security incidents composed by a group of people responsible for the development of preventive and reactive measures for security incidents in the information systems.

In this way, the National Institute of Communication Technologies (INTECO) has INTECO-CERT, which purpose is serving as a preventive and reactive support related to ICT security for entities and citizens. It has a vocation of public service as a nonprofit organization and offers help that, in all cases, is free and rapidly managed.
